The Artemis fowl books are so good so I was exited when I heard they were making a movie. I watched the first 30 minutes and I was left feeling so dissapointed and kinda angry with how they made the movie, the concepts and why was that dude with the shit voice narrating all the fucking time?

Haven't seen Scoob at all, but I'm surprised that Ken Jeong of all people voiced a character in the movie. Granted, his best role in my opinion is Leslie Chow, so seeing him go from that to a literal dog kinda threw me off at first.

I expected SCOOB to be a good scooby doo movie I mean I really wanted to get into a good mysterious movie instead it was a movie with an annoying superhero I hated it.

Artemis Fowl : I have never even read the books or heard of it, but the inaccuracies about the fantasy creatures made me like "nope, fuck this I have better things to waste my life watching", and that too after the scene where the Holly character gets captured! This movie is worse than sh*t.

Concerning the character getting crush by a troll (SPOILERS) it's probably merging two things from the books together. One was Butler being nearly killed by the troll, which provides Holly with a decision to make (let her captors die or heal Butler to avoid the loss of life) and she makes the right one, putting her own position at risk. The other was Butler getting shot in book 3, a legit emotional moment, where he reveals his first first name to Artemis (a bit deal in his profession) and then actually dies. We've known this guy for two previous books and actually care what happens to him (unlike the mess of the movie) and when Artemis lures Holly to his location to bring him back (yes fairy magic brings him back to life) it's after a good few hours of his body stuffed in a fish freezer so, of course, there are side effects. The guy ages a decade through the process. He's incapacitated for the rest of the book, and even feels the effects of his sudden older age in later books. Would you look at that! Consequences!

As a long-time Artemis Fowl fan, I hated the movie but I always felt that no one was ever going to successfully cram the premise into a 90 minute runtime. The story is too well-structured, the characters too well-developed and the world building too good to be watered down for a movie. On the other hand, if they had gone down the route of, say, a Netflix series spread over 12 episodes per book and written by someone who actually really, genuinely loved the books then I think we would have been watching something much more successful. (Hopes to god a screenwriter with talent who is a fan of the books reads this so we can have our Artemis Fowl Netflix series)

I actually quite liked Trolls: World Tour. I hated the original and my expectations were very low for the sequel, but I thought it was actually quite good. Not a masterpiece in storytelling or character development by any means, but very funny. I laughed quite a bit and they definitely improved the annoying humor so that is was less annoying and more just random funniness.

I’m not sure if this is just an inverse thing, but I had the exact opposite opinion. I thought the first one was surprisingly more fun than I expected it to be and the second was just a bunch of shorts with no direction or plot

Sucks that the Earthsea Cycle got this same treatment when the Scifi channel got their slimy tentacles on it and tried to turn it into another Harry Potter.

I tried to read Artemis Foul when I was like 12 but I put it down after 3 chapters because it read like the author was trying to make every sentence as wordy as possible.
